You’re no tourist but that doesn’t mean you can't be guided. Our expertly crafted day tour gives you access to Cape Town’s natural highlights without the crowds, or the traffic. A Marine Biologist and qualified Tour Guide will accompany you along the way, from secluded rock pools to panoramic vistas. There’s really nothing else like it.
Life is about experiences. Make your Cape Town experience unique by getting in touch with the natural beauty of the Mother City’s wilderness.
Guided by a local marine biologist you’ll learn to see the small stuff, not sweat it. Your day tour will take you to the regular spots, plus a few places out of the ordinary.
RockHopper Tours shows you the Cape through the eyes of a biologist.
Help us decongest our City. Meet us at 7am at The Chardonnay deli and we'll have you back in time to enjoy the sunset from anywhere in Cape Town. You'll be against the traffic both ways.

Please plan to arrive at 7am. **The group does not wait for latecomers. We do not offer refunds for missed trips.**
What happens if we are late?
We do not offer refunds for anyone who misses the vehicle but will do our best to accommodate you on any upcoming trips that you may be available for. Please give us a call or send a whatsapp message and we'll look for a second pickup location that works for you.
How long is the trip?
The trip takes 8 hours.
What is provided?
We provide a registered and insured passenger vehicle with driver and biologist/guide for the day. We cover the road toll and Cape Point National Park entrance fees, Boulders beach is optional and at your own cost.
We'll bring SA's finest Rooibos tea, cocoa, and rusks. All other food and drinks are at your own cost.
What is your refund policy?
We will only cancel a trip should road, traffic or weather conditions render the trip unsafe or impossible. Cancelled trips will be refunded in full. We endeavor to cancel trips 24 hours ahead of time, but this is Africa so short-term cancellations can occur. Refunds are made via the same method in which we received the payment.
I've rented a car already, why should I take this trip when I can drive myself?
You have limited time in Cape Town, why not worry about soaking up the views, not the traffic. Take in the vistas along winding roads capturing instagram-worth photos of the Cape Peninsula. We'll worry about missing the traffic, watching the fuel gauge, and making sure you don't miss any of the local highlights.
What should I bring?
You should bring comfortable shoes, a hat, sunscreen, a wind/rain jacket, swimming costume, and water.
How big are the groups?
To keep things comfortable we aim for 8 Rockhoppers per vehicle although we can accommodate larger groups. Contact us for custom trips.
Is there an age limit?
We do not have an age limit and encourage youngsters to come along. We do suggest children under the age of 16 are accompanied by an adult.
How does payment work?
Please complete the booking form with all the relevant details. Ensure that your contact details are correct as we need to contact you to confirm or update the trip. Master Card and Visa credit cards are accepted through the online payment and booking system.
What is your booking policy?
Bookings are confirmed only when payment has been received. Irregular bookings may be refused at any time. We are available on live chat, Whatsapp, email or telephonically should you have any problems or questions.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel your booking with more than 2 days notice we'll let it slide. Less than 2 days notice and we'll have to charge a 20% cancellation fee. NB **We do not give refunds if you do not arrive or arrive after the vehicle has left.**
WHY? If you feel like walking off the beaten track and discovering great things, then join Justin’s Cape Peninsula adventure! WHAT? A seven hour nature experience full of wildlife surprises and absolutely stunning views around the (almost) most southern part of the African continent. Go where no tourist has gone before and discover tidal pools with limpets, mussels, whelks & (cushion)starfish. See the most beautiful colored anemones and get hypnotized by the kelp that’s just moving back and forth with the currants while having some Rooibos tea and rusks. WHO? Justin is such an easy going guy, super enthusiastic, has a huge amount of knowledge and is a really good storyteller without becoming too scientific. He’s really your guy to spend time with at the Cape Peninsula. Justin, thank you so much for this awesome day. My love for Mother Nature has only grown even more!
This was an exceptional tour. Justin is an excellent and interesting communicator and paced the tour just right. We saw seals, ostriches, elands, baboons and penguins while out & about…and it was so much more interesting than if we had tried to just visit the Cape Peninsula on our own. Justin also has excellent tastes in restaurants. :-). We met at a charming cafe at 7 am and then had lunch at a fantastic restaurant while on our tour. Highly recommend!
“I’ve spent a lot of years in Cape Town and have visited parts of the Cape peninsula before, but during my tour with RockHopper Tours, I discovered new spots along the coast I didn’t even know were there! We ended up in several stunning coastal locations without any other people around, looking for life in the rockpools, snorkeling, spotting larger marine life out to sea..”
